Chelsea Handler Hosting MTV VMA’s

TV host and comedian Chelsea Handler has been selected to host the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Why can’t they start calling it the Music Video Awards? Anyway, not many women have hosted the annual awards show. Sarah Silverman got the gig in 2007, but she was the first female host since 1994 back when Rosanne had the job. If any woman deserves to host, it’s definitely Chelsea. With her running the show, no musician or star is safe!

Anyone who has watched her show Chelsea Lately knows she’s not afraid to tell it like it is. Be prepared for lots of Justin Bieber jokes. We can’t wait to see her put celebrities in their place!

She has a lot to live up to. The only reason people talked about last year’s show was because Kanye drunkenly rushed the stage. Without another stunt like that it’s doubtful this year’s awards will be as memorable. Plus, 2009 host Russell Brand set the bar pretty high.

“The executive producer came up to me straight after the show and asked me to sign up to do next year’s awards too,†Brand said last year. “The viewing figures went up twenty percent on last year’s show which is unbelievable. I’m really flattered.â€

Brand is currently busy dating Katy Perry and filming his new movie Aurthur, so MTV execs picked Chelsea to MC the awards.
