Miley Cyrus Apologizes a Second Time for Racially Insensitive Photo

Monday, February 09, 2009 7:25 PM
Miley Cyrus has taken to her official fan site to issue a heartfelt apology for the racially offensive photograph she took with her friends.
In the picture, Miley is seen using her fingers to make her eyes slant, which is considered degrading to Asian people.
It is the 16 year old’s second apology following the advocate group OCA, a national organization dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans, releasing a statement saying the teen set "a terrible example for her many young fans" by "mocking and denigrating individuals of Asian descent."
On her official fan site, Miley writes: "I want to thank all of my fans for their support not only this week, but always! I really wanted to stress how sorry I am if the photo of me with my friends offended anyone. I have learned a valuable lesson from this and know that sometimes my actions can be unintentionally hurtful. I know everything is a part of GOD’s ultimate plan, and mistakes happen so that eventually I will become the woman he aspires me to be. Peace and love, Miles"

Miley first apologized for the picture, which surfaced on the web, last week but was criticized for not being genuine or quick enough in her response to the controversy.
