Harper’s Bazaar Spain has done the unthinkable for its April 2012 cover; in an unprecedented move, the mag features actress Angela Molina, wrinkles and all, in a gorgeous black and white cover photo. At first we thought the magazine simply made a mistake and accidentally published the unedited photo, but you can see that some light retouching has been done on the picture after all.

Most All magazines go to great lengths to erase even the smallest imperfections on their cover models, airbrushing their skin and warping their figures. Sometimes the Photoshop gets so extreme that it’s laughable, and we can’t tell you how refreshing it is to see an actual human woman on a magazine cover. Despite what editors believe, airbrushing a woman into an unrecognizable, doll-like figure does NOT make her more beautiful.

One photo doesn’t make a trend, but this is definitely the most attention a Harper’s Bazaar issue has gotten in recent memory. Let’s hope other magazine editors pay attention.
