Rihanna is the stage name of Barbadian recording artist Robyn Rihanna Fenty. She moved to the United States at the age of 16 and was quickly signed to Def Jam Records. Since the release of her debut album in 2005, Rihanna has sold more than 25 million albums and 60 million singles, which makes her one of the most successful female recording artists of all time. In February of 2009, Rihanna was assaulted by her boyfriend Chris Brown in an incident that received international media coverage.
