Breaking Dawn hasn’t even started filming, but already the production has hit a major roadblock. Twilight producers had planned to shoot the honeymoon scenes from Breaking Dawn in the Brazilian city Rio de Janeiro, but a recent hostage situation involving 35 terrified foreigners has sent them looking for new locations at the last minute.

A drug gang fleeing the police recently took 35 tourists hostage at the Intercontinental Hotel in Rio. “After a blazing firefight that killed one person and wounded six others, the gang surrendered. There were 1,550 people in the hotel at the time,” writes the AFP. Understandably, Twilight producers aren’t keen on the idea of putting Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart within 1,000 miles of danger.

In the books, Edward and Bella honeymoon in Brazil, but that doesn’t mean the scenes actually have to be filmed there. Rio officials are currently trying to persuade Summit Entertainment to shoot in the city anyway.
