Top Gun star Kelly McGillis wants to set the record straight: Yes, she's gay.
Asked by lesbian website
Shewire.com if she was looking to date a man or woman, the single star, 51, said, "Definitely a woman. I'm done with the man thing."

McGillis -- who is twice divorced and has two teenage daughters -- said coming to terms with her sexuality was "an ongoing process from the time I was probably 12."
"It was a long, arduous journey for me," she went on. "I had a lot of things happen that convinced me that God was punishing me because I was gay. That was a hard process."

"Life is a freaking journey. and it's about growing and changing and coming to terms with who and what you are and loving who you are," added the actress, who had a guest role on Showtime's lesbian drama
The L Word last year.

At 51, McGillis says, "I'm starting my life in a whole different phase."
"I love acting," she said, "but I don't want to do it at the point of losing who I really am."
