Top Rehab Experts Explain: How Could The Lindsay Lohan Debacle Have Been Avoided?

Yesterday, Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to jail time due to violation of probation, and well, just not taking it seriously. For many people, this comes as no surprise. Little LiLo has been going down hill for as long as we can remember. What ever happened to the cute red-haired Disney star from the Parent Trap way back when? Even Mean Girls Lindsay was funny, smart, and cool.

The days of Freaky Friday and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen are long gone. LiLo became the epitome of the child star turned crazy party girl. It was only a matter of time before she was locked up, right? Maybe.

Experts at Visions Adolescent Treatment Centers in Malibu, a premiere drug and alcohol treatment center frequented by celebrities, say this could have all been avoided. Too bad LiLo was unable to think clearly enough to figure this out.

The experts at Visions said, “Often times parents take the view that drug and alcohol use by their teens is just a normal part of being a teenager testing limits and experimenting.†Normal? Becoming a druggie by your teens is anything but normal. Yet, what parent wants to admit their child is out of control? Visions personnel pointed out that this debacle that poor Linds got herself into is a learning lesson for all parents. Finally, a lesson for parents! Everyone knows Mr. Lohan could use some help.

“What parents often fail to realize is that there is an incredibly fine line between experimentation and a serious problem. Time and again, we have heard from parents that they wished they had listened to us when their children were still teens,†says the Visions spokesperson. “Almost always, addictions in young adults were present far earlier in adolescence. While a child is under 18, many parents don’t fully realize that they can simply put their child in a program like Visions.â€

Sounds like Michael Lohan wouldn’t be in the situation he is in now if he had gotten his little girl help sooner, rather than later. At the very least, LiLo’s tough fate can help the rest of us not become jailbait before we turn 25!
